A RESOLUTION COMMENDING BETTY TUTOR FOR SAVING THE LIFE OF A TEN-YEAR-OLD STUDENT.

WHEREAS, Betty Tutor is a bus driver for the South Pontotoc Attendance Center; and

WHEREAS, On Wednesday, February 10, 1999, she looked in her rear-view mirror and saw a student standing in the back of the bus who was blue in the face and had a look of fear on her face; and

WHEREAS, Betty Tutor immediately stopped the bus in the middle of the road and scrambled to the back of the bus to the student; and

WHEREAS, Betty Tutor quickly realized the student was choking and performed the Heimlich maneuver; and

WHEREAS, on the second push, she cleared the student's airway; and

WHEREAS, Betty Tutor's quick thinking and actions saved the life of ten-year-old Brittany Gregory; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi Senate to commend the noteworthy accomplishments of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Betty Tutor for saving the life of ten-year-old Brittany Gregory.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Betty Tutor.
